Bonk - Touring 2019-2020
Written by Monica Spencer, Bonk is a theatrical experience about the beautiful and sometimes rocky relationship between a little girl and her cat. There will be lights and shadow work when the cat and little girl are in harmony and discourse. Not only will the young audience experience feelings and emotions in front of them with the actors physically, but also visually with the projected colors and shadow work, with the overall goal of teaching harmony with the animals in our young audience’s lives.
Based on the book “Pierrot ou les secrets de la nuit” by Michael Tournier, Adaptation and Music by Guus Ponsioen.
The sun and the moon weave a beautiful fairy tale with puppets, music and magic. The adventure of Perô, the baker, and Colombina, the washer woman, is a visually electrifying experience for audiences of all ages.
Monica is the professional artist-in-residence for the Budding Artists Playwriting & Performance Class. She works with her students to examine their own communities and their role within them as they become advocates for change and collectively write their own play.
